Moree Youth Forum / Block Party 2022

About the Youth Forum and Block Party

Moree will be home to a Youth Forum and Block Party on 17-19 March 2022. The events are being led and designed by young people. These events provide opportunities for young people to come together, grow connections, come up with ideas and make plans for what they want to see for Moree and learn new skills on how to make change. Young people will be supported to learn and take up new opportunities, including developing leadership and advocacy skills through the events.

The idea and need for these events has come directly from young people in Moree who Just Reinvest NSW have been working with over the last 3 years. Young people have been consistently telling us that they wanted the opportunity to come together in one place, to learn from each other and to explore different ways of supporting young people. Importantly, young people want the service systems and organisations in Moree to listen to their ideas and aspirations and themselves think about how things could be done differently.

The 2-day Youth Forum will lead into the Moree Block Party, a community event that will be an opportunity to celebrate young people in Moree. Kobie Duncan, a Gomeroi rapper (Kobie Dee) is collaborating with us on the Moree Block Party. After the success of the South East Block Party held in Maroubra, Sydney, on Friday 16th April 2021, Kobie Dee wanted to create this experience in his hometown in Moree. This will be a free event to showcase local talent, bring young people together and celebrate the strength and resilience of the local Moree community.

This event will be hosted in March 2022. It will be a festival like event with:

  • Stage
  • Lighting
  • Sound
  • Food stalls/trucks
  • Cultural activities
  • Interactive experiences
