Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
• Knowledge and appreciation of the cultural and social needs of Aboriginal people including a commitment to
Aboriginal self-determination, a demonstrated understanding of the justice system, and its impacts on
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• Understanding of the need for community-led justice reinvestment initiatives alongside a continuing respect
and support for Aboriginal cultural practices in dealing with community members and staff
• Good understanding of the issues impacting on Aboriginal young people and their interactions with the justice
system
• Commitment to working alongside Aboriginal communities to lead solutions that create better outcomes for
Aboriginal young people
• Good understanding of the service system in Mt Druitt
• Project management experience
• Demonstrated ability to manage a small team and/or a small project
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability and willingness to work with a range of stakeholders and organisations to create partnerships
Desirable Criteria
• Experience working directly with Aboriginal young people
• Experience in coordinating training
